Milates is an intense program which challenges each muscle in the body and leaves you feeling tighter, firmer, stronger and leaner. Its like your core is an elastic band stretched to a divine tautness. And you stay that way: walking taller and feeling svelte. Within 2-3 classes, my waist and hips are shapelier, and my arms and tights look as if an inch has been delicately shaved from them.
In preparation for my wedding last June, I joined Milates for 8 sessions. Through a series of balance, light weights, resistance bands and ball exercises, I was pleased to witness my once-saggy upper arms transformed into finely-sculpted artwork; in addition, I toned my midsection to near flat, and legs to lean. The highlight of the program, however, was the positive state of mind created through a community of supportive women.

Milates is worlds better than Pilates! I‘d done Pilates in South Africa (2 yrs) & UK (6 months) before moving to Canada where I looked for somewhere that would offer Pilates close to my apartment. I found Milates and thought I‘d try it. The basic methods of core strength being important is about the only similarity, otherwise Milates was a much more holistic form of exercise. After only 6 months I felt stronger, had better body definition & generally had more fun in the classes than I had had for any previous Pilates sessions. Mila was always very aware that most of us worked desk jobs & she‘d have exercises to counteract the negative influences of sitting too long, of bad posture, & generally relieving stress and tension. What also impressed me was that Mila always remembered who had what injury, and she‘d have specific/different exercises for that person so as not to exacerbate their injury, but rather to help them get over it. As a person chronically fixated on her weight, which always seems 10 lbs over the target no matter how hard I try, it was an awesome experience to be trained by someone who showcased that, my butt was getting tighter, but who also wanted me to believe in my progress and LOVE my body for what it is. I like Milates because it focuses on body core and strengthening. Other Pilates workouts do as well, but Milates makes exercise fun and Mila never repeats the same class. Some programs out there do the same thing every class and offer no variation.
